What dog food would you suggest for a dog w/ allergies and tear stains?

I feed him Canidae now its been over a week now and he still scratches. His tear stains aren't gone either.

Or how do I cut out the starch for his tear stains to go away?

I will ask the vet this week when I take him too.

I have noticed less poop! Thats gotta be a good sign.

We feed Eagle Pack Holistic for the itches and it has been 18 months and my lab mix still has no issues. He is allergic to yeast. All of his health issues have been resolved simply by changing his diet, although it did take almost 2 months for his hair to grow all the way in.

If you are interested you can find a local retailer athttp://www.eaglepack.com/Pages/EP_WhereT...

Good luck with your pup!

Raw/BARF.
It's great especially in getting rid of allergies and also makes tear stains disappear.

It takes about 21 days to test a food. Canidae is a very good food- but it is loaded with starch. Are you sure starch is the problem?? I never heard this. You can try some of Dick Van Patton's anti- allergy foods. They may cost a little more than the Canidae. They have several for allergies.

A good lamb and rice dog food is really the best, and as for the tear stains, we always just used a tiny bit of baby shampoo on a damp wash rag and wash wash wash it over and over, they will fade...

Wellness simple food has either duck or venison as the protein, which most dogs have not had in their diet. This means much less of a chance of an allergic reaction to it.

A dog with allergies should eat lamb based foods, snacks, etc.

There is an oral medicine that you can get from the vet that will clear up the tear stains.

go to a veterinarian ask them that question.
