My dog has paw allergies???

My dog has bad paw allergies all year long (she's a golden retriever). Her paws are red and she licks and chews on them constantly. We have taken her to the vet several times, but it seems like nothing works!! She eats special hypoallergentic food, and takes medicine every night. We have also tried to soak her paws in this special shampoo but that didn't seem to work out too great. She is really suffering, and I want to help her badly. Is there anything else that I can try? Thankss!!!

Luvsdard, we have been feeding her Purina Vetanary Diets Hypoallergenic food. You cannot buy it in the store, so we pick it up at the vet every so often, so I think that it is a good quality.

Look at the label in your special hypo allergenic food. If it has ANY corn, wheat, gleutens, soy or by-products in it then it's NO good and should be thrown out and you can get Canidae or Wellness or Innova or something else with NONE of these things in it. Most of the time, the special food is Science Diet which is GARBAGE and expesive garbage at that. If not and you're feeding a good quality food with none of this in it then I'd recomment a white fish and sweet potatoe food. It also could be your carpet or any detergents or floor cleaners or rug fresheners you use. Poor dog, if I can think of anything else, I'll edit. Good luck!

Please check the ingredients on the label. Purina isn't known for being a high quality food and the vet doesn't necessarily have a degree in nutrition. Purina PAYS your vet to carry this food. Just put your dog on Canidae or Wellness for 2 weeks. You WILL see a difference! Report Abuse

Thats a very tough case. I'd probably try some kind of lotion, powder, or wash them.

Maybe you could try putting dog booties on her.
