Has anyone removed carpet from the bedroom for allergies.

Every morning when I wake up, my sinuses are swollen shut and my eyes are swollen. I feel awful. I am thinking of ripping out the carpet. Do you think this will help?

My friend did because her husband has asthma - but she reckons it didn't make much difference.

Look at other things too, like - do you have some sort of tree or bush outside your bedroom window that maybe you are inhaling all night? Do you have pets that sleep with you? Are your curtains old and maybe dusty?
My animals don't sleep in my room anymore, I keep my bedroom window shut at night so I don't breathe in all the pollen from a tree and I just replaced my old curtains. I am a very clean person and I could not believe how much dust was all over my curtains until I took them down! I also make sure I vacuum my bedroom maybe twice a week instead of just once and never let dust settle on my bedside cabinets.
I sleep really well now.

The reason you are having this problem is because of Dust Mited actually. They are in our Carpets and our bedding. I would like to take my carpet up, but my room would be to cold in the winter time. Oh yah, by the way there is stuff you can get to treat your room. Talk to an Allergest where ever you see your Doctor. I use to order some stuff, but couldn't afford it anymore. So i pretty much feel horrible every morning and i live on Benadrly (Anahistamine). It really can interfer with your sleep. Does this happen to you?

It depends on what you're allergic too. Pulling up the carpet will probably help if you're allergic to dust or pet dander. If it's pollen or something similar, it probably wouldn't help.

If you decide to remove it, have someone ELSE pull it up. There's so much crap buried deep in carpet, and pulling it up is just going to release it into the air.

Could there be mold somewhere in the room? That could cause these same symptoms.

yes...it most likely will help.. we did that in our sons room and just put in a small throw rug that we can put in the washing machine. My son is mildly allergic to our cat and now the only time it bothers him is when he lays on our 9X 12 carpet in the living room. He is also allergic to dust mites so the doctor advised me to get the hypoallergetic mattress and pillow covers....they aren't cheap but they sure helped. You might consider those also.....Good Luck

I have just had the lounge carpet taken out and replaced with a wood floor, to tell you the truth I find no difference with my allergy as i'm still sneezing like before! No dog, no cat, not even a bird in the house! It must be the wife! lol.

Yes you definitely should. I found out that my son had asthma and we took out all carpet in my house. This helped alot. We replaced all the carpet with wood laminate floor and he is doing much better.

Yes i did then i realised how disgusting it was under the carpet best thing to do is pul floor boreds down and then lay your small carpets down to stop it being really cold :)

i have befor the dust or germs get in your carpet and affect your allergies . i did and i got better . you should

i have plus if you get wood floors its easier to clean
