A member of my family has extreme allergies to many things including dogs. Know any allergy-friendly dogs? |
I have mild allergies towards dogs. Cats are the death of both of us. We tried a miniature schnauzer. I was fine, but he couldn't sleep at night. The symptoms- worsened excema. We both have excema to start with, but it gets worse for him... We heard Cavalier King Charles Spaniels would work? Oh gosh, no. Cavaliers are fairly high-shedding and not at all low-allergen. If the schnauzer set the allergies off, you may not find any breeds that will work for you, as they are pretty low on the allergen scale. Here's the list from the AKC of dogs that are best for allergies- Schnauzers are on it. http://www.akc.org/about/faq_allergies.c... There are no guarantees with any mixed-breed dog (like poodle mixes), and generally they are higher allergen than the lower-allergen dog that was part of the mix. I would recommend spending time with any breed you are interested in to make sure it will work out before you commit. There are no dogs that are hypo-allergenic at all, so you may not find a breed that will work for your home. Good luck in the search, though! Shar-Pei. I have a really good friend that is allergic to everything (grass, trees, dogs, cats, etc.) except horses. Because Shar-Pei's have such short hair - like a horse - my friend could come into the house and even touch the dog with no problems. Any Poodle or Poodle mix. We have asthma in our household. So we nix the cat action and got us a cockapoo. He's the cutest little dog in the world to us. He's kind of like a "Benji" looking dog. He doesn't shed much because of the poodle in him. But I have heard that any poodle mix is for allergy prevention. Good luck! Chinese Crested dog though there kinda ugily. I've heard that poodles are a good choice for allergy sufferers and they're great dogs anyways. There are also many poodle mixes I'm sure you could find just about any mix if you looked hard enough. um american eskimo dog. my dads friend has one and his daughter is allergic to dogs, but not their american eskimo. i don't know if its just luck that shes not allergic to their dog or if it's an allergy-friendly dog My brother has asthma and they have a maltese, which has not given him any problems at all. Here's a list I found of hypoallergenic dogs. There is a listing of the best dogs for allergy sufferers at the web site listed below. poodles are good for allergys i think. Poodle.s bicons maltese.I have a maltses goood luck |
