Did I have allergies or was it a cold?

We got a cat about a week ago and we've never had a cat before and after a day or two I was sneezing and coughing and had itchy eyes and they got red. But the past 3 days I have not had any symptoms it's like a have no allergies. Does this mean I just got a summer cold right after we got the cat or has something happened to my allergies that I'm not sure I ever even had.

cold ,

so you still have the cat right? If you still have the cat and your symptoms have gone away it means it was something else. Or if you find that you aren't petting the cat since symptoms ceased it may be direct contact with the cat and your sinuses.

Trial and error is the only way to find out. To be sure since you are feeling better grab the cat and rub him against your face...if you have those symptoms you are allergic, if you don't it was something else, although it may just be an allergy to something else.

Did you have medications while you were feeling bad?

That might be why you stopped feeling bad.
Try rubbing the cat in your face and if you get sneezy then its the cat.

depends how your interaction been, you may be only mildy allergic in which case you only react if you litterary rub it in your face
