What causes my summer allergies?

i have terrible allergies in the summer, i am unaffected all day, then at about 6 o'clock p.m., it hits me, i sneeze constantly and can't breathe out my nose, i don't have any pets, except fish, but i am surrounded by woods. if you could tell me how to dull the symptom's it would be great.

The answer to that depends on where you live geographically. It could be ragweed or other pollens, mold spores... or simply the fact that you could be getting home at 6pm and your allergies are more severe there.

To dull the symptoms, simply take a long-lasting antihystamine. Claratin is effective for some with mild allergies and symptoms. Zyrtec (now over the counter) is a notch up, lasts 24 hours, but may cause a little drowsiness.

From a nutritional side, eat more omega-3 and -6 fatty acids (fish, raw nuts, suppliments) and minimize beef, dairy, and lamb consumption. This will promote anti-inflammatory pathways and minimize inflammatory pathways.

This time of year it's most likely ragweed pollen. The best way to get rid of your symptoms is to take an antihistamine and/or a decongestant. If over the counter medications aren't helping, your doctor can prescribe you something to help. Keep your windows closed and use the air conditioning to keep yourself isolated from it.
