I went to the allergist and I have no allergies after being poked 100 x's

I still have chronic hives (lasting 2 mos.) and have had my blood taken, and am waiting for the results. My doctor said I could have an auto-immune disease. Has anyone gone through something like this?

Many people have gone through things like that. Keep in mind that while they poked you 100 times, there are hundreds of thousands of potential allergic triggers. These include perfumes, dies, detergents, surfactants, molds, mites, dander... and on and on.

In addition to an autoimmune disease, the reaction could be related to a fungal infection of the skin, precipitating as a rash. In this case, steroids will not help the situation but make it worse.

I had a similar thing happen when I was much younger. I used to randomly break out in hives sometimes they would start at the bottom of my feet and they wouldn't spread. Other times I would get hives all over my body. One time when I was three my entire lip was swollen and was rushed to the E.R. I had one doctor say it was probably just a viral infection. I wasn't so sure that he was right but over the years I had a couple of doctors say the same thing. Eventually as I got older the hives subsided and really haven't returned.

It's good that you've consulted a doctor, best of luck to you.

Hives can also be caused due to nerves. I have an auto-immune disease, mine being Lupus. There are many different types. Any auto-immune condition is basically when our own immune system decides to turn on itself - simply put. Allergies are an example. The immune systems over reacting to something harmless.

maybe you have a food allergy. yes i have gone thru something like this. dr told me that i had chronic fatigure and polymalasia rumatica. turns out what i have is food allergies to corn and wheat. food allergy symptoms sometimes mimic the fatuige and the rumatica. i tracked the food allergies my self.
