Miniature australian shepherd + allergies?

I'm considering getting one of these. I'm highly allergic to some dogs, moderately to others, very little to others. How do I know if I'll be allergic to a mini aussie? What are others' experiences with these dogs and allergies?

Also, I understand that mini aussies are not an "official" breed, so please do not restate that. :)

I own one and for everyone who thinks it's about poor breeding is insane. They shed year-round, but more during certain seasons. If you brush them regularly it's not as bad especially if you get a Furminator. Best invention since sliced bread. Also I own a Mini Aussie not a standard.

There's no such thing as a miniature Australian Shepherd. They are just mutts. If you want an Aussie, get a real Aussie from a reputable breeder, or look for a small Aussie mix at a shelter. Though, Aussies are very difficult breeds to own. They aren't good for novice owners.

I have an Aussie mix that I found on the side of the road. She sheds very little for some reason. But generally, medium-coat breeds shed more than any other dogs; and generally, the more that a dog sheds, the worse they are for allergies.

I am allergic to dogs, but I get used to any dog very quickly and my allergies stop bothering me after a week or two of exposure.

Here's a list of dogs that shed very little and are considered better for allergy sufferers:

Affenpinscher
Airedale Terrier
Bedlington Terrier
Bichon Frise
Bolognese
Border Terrier
Cesky Terrier
Chinese Crested
Chinese Shar-Pei
Coton de Tulear
Maltese
Manchester Terrier
Miniature Schnauzer
Poodle
Portuguese Water Dog
Puggle
Puli
Shih Tzu
Silky Terrier
Tibetan Terrier
Welsh Terrier

Whatever breed you decide upon, please consider adopting from a shelter or rescue organization.

I would get Bichon Yorkie. I am not allergic to dogs but my sister is and she is always with her. Miniature australian sheperds are poorly bred and they do cause allergies. Look at my link and consider some of these dogs instead.

First of all a mini aussie is nothing but a poorly bred dog. Second of all; all dogs have dander. That's what people are allergic to is the dander. Thirdly, no one can tell you whether you will react or not as every person is different. Some are more sensitive will others will do just fine.

They are shedders, try being around a *real* Aussie to see if you have an allergetic reaction. There are pobably some at shelters, or a dogpark, or at a friends house?

I like the look of a australian shepherd. They are so cute.
