Help with allergy pills?? |
I've been taking Allegra for allergies/hayfever, they don't seem to be working. I bought some Reactine to see if they work. If I took an Allegra this morning at 8:00 a.m would it be okay to take a Reactine now or should I wait until tomorrow?? I should have asked the pharmacist, but forgot. Depends on the type of allegra you have taken. If it is the Allegra 180 mg (which is once a day dosing and lasts ~24 hours), I would wait until tomorrow to take the Reactine. Reactine is also once a day, 24 hour tablet. Allegra- D 12 hour is a 12 hour pill and you could start reactine this evening, 8 PM. Allegra-D 24 hour is a 24 hour tablet and should wait until tomorrow. You may benefit from taking some Sudafed to help with any nasal decongestion. This is fine to take with allegra or Reactine as long as it is already not in the product. (ex: Allegra D, Claritin D) If you are still having a lot of trouble this evening, you may try some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) before you go to bed. The only reason I state this is because it makes most people drowsy. Try to wait until tomorrow to start the Reactine. EL, Pharm D. RPh (Pharmacist) u can always call the pharmacist the # should be on the side of hte prescription bottle.... it would be best to ask a professional about taking additional meds also, go back to the dr who prescribled the allegra and tell them it isnt working and u wnat to try some other medication... there are many options Call up the pharmacy they will be happy to answer your question. That's their job. You probably shouldn't take the other medication until the allergra wears off! If the Allegra are 12 hour pills then take the Reactine. If the Allegra is a 24 hour (once a day pill) than take the Reactine tomorrow. That is what the pharmacist would tell you to cover themselves. However, it is not going to hurt you to start taking the Reactine tonight. I am a long term allergy sufferer who has had to switch brands when it does not work. |
