Is a Boxer good for allergies? |
I mean they have short hair. My friends dog just had two boxer puppies andsome of my family members have bad allergies but if boxer are ok for allergies im going to ask if we can buy one. surpends on the hair lenght i think and how bad you are with allergies Any dog will shed, but boxers are indeed a short-haired dog. See an allergy specialist before getting any dog to seek their advice and if you really want to experience it for yourself, contact your local Boxer rescue. Offer to foster a Boxer for awhile so you can get used to their behavior and their effect on your allergies. Good luck and good choice! Boxer lover and dad to a 5 year old female fawn Boxer Do you mean allergies to humans or allergies for the dogs? We have a boxer who is a big teddy bear. He is allergic to a bunch of things and we have had him on predinsone for most of his life. It keeps the itching down, but makes him eat and drink more and in turn have to go the bathroom more often. As far as if boxers are allergic to humans, that would depend on the person. I am allergic to cats, but am fine sharing my pillow with my dog, who weighs 73lbs and thinks he is a lap dog. Hope that helps personal experience Boxers arent the worst shedders but they do have a undercoat so they will have dander and some shedding. If anything go with a poodle or poodle mix because poodles are hypoallergenic. also bichons, shih tzus, and lhasa apsos are hypoallergenic. No better than any other dog. Boxers shed and have dander, so they can trigger allergies. Coat length doesn't make much difference, it's the dander in their skin. Non-shedding breeds like poodles, shih tzus and bichons are less likely to trigger allergies (but no guarantees on these breeds either). |
