Chemo and allergies?

My husband has just went through chemo. He spent 3 days in the hospital getting a low dose of chemo. His hair has just fallen out. But his allergies are really acting up. Could that be because of the chemo or would it be something else?

Sorry to hear about your husband, it is so difficult when our loved ones are suffering and we do not know what to do to help. Well, something you can do to help is to get him to raise his glutathione. If his glutathione is high, additional hair loss is minimal, recovery time will be reduced and allergies will be less severs. There have been several recent studies performed that directly correlate the level of glutathione in your system to the severity of side effects from chemotherapy or radiation treatment. I have a 78 year old friend that went through 4 cycles of chemo with very little hair loss, no nausea and only a small loss in strength. He raised glutathione by taking Immunocal.

Immunocal in listed in the US Physician's Desk Reference (PDR). It has a method of use patent # 5,888,552 dated 3-30-1999 that reads Anti-Cancer Therapeutic Compositions Containing Whey Protein Concentrate. This product has been shown to help prevent nausea, hair loss and loss of energy when going through chemotherapy or radiation.
Hope this information will help.

Chemo fries the body pretty badly. It's very possible that he is not really allergic, but that his mucosa have been damaged and are trying to repair themselves. He also probalby didn't take his allergy meds while in the hospital. I'd take them, and do the other post-chem stuff he is supposed to do, and see how he does. His gut is also going to be damaged, so while it heals, he may have other gastointestinal problems. Killin' cancer is a freakin' tough thing on your body. Sorry for your husband and I hope things work out for the best. Good luck!
The chemo really wrecks havoc on your body and seriously compromises the immune system. I just finished chemo and I had major problems with my allergies at times even with taking my regular allergy meds. Try talking with his doctor, they might be able to adjust the dosage of his allergy meds to help him if it's bothering him that much.
Good luck to both of you!
