Damnit! I have an itchy rash all over my body!!!!!!! Could it be an allergy to PRILOSEC OTC???


It looks like tiny, flesh-colored bumps (some are slightly pink), that are EXTREMELY itchy. They are on my neck, lower half of my face, one shoulder, my hands, and the back of one of my calves. The ones on my neck look more like classic hives, and they are the itchiest. I thought it was eczema at first, but my eczema NEVER looks like that... it's always scaly and it burns.

Anyway, today will be my 8th day of taking Prilosec OTC for frequent heartburn, and that's the only new thing that I've added. No new foods, I haven't left the house (too allergic to the outdoors), etc., only this Prilosec. Could this be a reaction to that??? Otherwise, what might it be? Thank you so much in advance!

P.S. I'm taking Benadryl (on top of my regular Allegra-D, which is approved by my Dermatologist and Pediatrician), and putting Cortaid on it... but I have Betamethasone (which is a LOT stronger), so I'll try that if it doesn't go away by tomorrow. Does that sound good?

sound like that is what it is. it takes a few days for your system to produce antibodies and cause the allergic reaction. If after taking the benadryl it should be gone within 24 hours if this is an allergic reaction to a medication. But you need to stop taking it for the benadryl to work, Good Luck itchy!
It sounds like that is what is causing it if it's the only new thing introduced in your life now. Think about everything recently just to make sure, have a new shampoo, body wash, hand soap, laundry detergent? Anything like that and if you haven't then I would assume its the medicine.
I've taken prilosec for years with no problems. You mention that you have many allergies. Have you changed laundry detergents lately. Many have perfumes and other additives that you might be reacting to. If that is the case, try something like all free. There are several laundry products that are allergen free. it sounds like u have an allergy go take a test it may have been something u ate!
