Food allergy to 8 month old? |
Im not sure what the heck happend with my girl, but i know she will see her doctor again if it does. I know she gets heat rashes on her bum area , in her neck folds and around her mouth when she gets to hot or gets alot of milk or juice on her face. Today I gave my mom Banana plum Gerber stage 2 to feed her, she has bad it before and pleanty of baby food she eats has banana's in it. I noticed about 30-60 minutes afterwards when i was getting ready to go somewhere with her, that she was covered in very small red dots, her feet and legs were the worst of all and didnt have much on her chest back or arms. Even hours afterwards they were still there. She has had this food before with no problems, but i cant help wonder if she developed an allergy to plums or banana's. I will try her on banana's in a week to see, cause I have a small allergy to those but nothing major. Just my mouth burns when i eat them. Has anyone had a food allergy with their baby like that? Skin rashes are an immediate visit to the doctor. You should not wait to see. It could be a staph or strep infection or an allergy. Both can be very serious leading to anaphalaxis (serious allergic reaction) or even death. Have this baby checked immediately. Do not wait with a potential allergy and get some Benedryl and keep it on hand just in case. My daughter had an allergic reaction--hives and swollen face and I was at the ER immediately. She also had petechiae which was indicative of Leukemia. I did not wait to take her to the doctor. I'm not saying to immediately think the worst, but do not take the chance. Definetly see a doctor, but i would say yes. When i was a baby i had an allergy to apple juice. Whenever i drank it, i would break out in a rash. I also could not take even a little bit of alcohol, like in cough medicine, i would throw up immidietly. Im 19 now, and i can drink alcohol fine, and i love apple juice. Your child may grow out of it, but im not a doctor, so i suggest you see one to be safe. I wish you the best of luck. I know when i feed my son the same thing he broke out in a rash but that was only once . a few months later he ate it he was fine. maybe with the skin reactions she could be- if you feed it to her again you may have to talk to her doctor about it. My oldest was allergic to bananas. My youngest WAS allergic to strawberries. She would break out with what I call angel kisses all over her face when she ate them. After a few months she decided to eat one, (after learning how to open the fridge) and nothing happened. her doc said allergies can come and go without notice. she's fine now. she can eat all the strawberries she wants. weird, huh? yes, when my son was a baby he was allergic to baby milk in the can but not my breast milk, but when i couldnt pump i got him soy milk in the can it worked, its commen for food allergies to happen just take her to the doc and she will b ok yes, sounds allergic reaction - especially if you are allergic to something. generally you shouldn't let your baby try something you are allergic to until they are over 1 year just to be on the safe side. I am allergic to seafood and didn't give my children any until over 1 year old (i have 4 kids). My youngest has just turned 1 and I haven't let her eat fish or seafood yet. First, is the weather in ur area hot or warm? If so, bathe ur baby at least twice or thrice a day. But just soap him in the morning and at night. Sweat is acidic and when they accumulate in the folds of the skin, they wld cause irritations called rashes. Disposable diapers are also made up of plastics and when urine and heat are mixed, the acidic urine wld peel off the skin and cause rashes or irritations that wld make baby very uncomfortable. So wash out those sweats and urine thru regular baths. Immersing him in water in between regular baths will be fine. This will wash out his sweat, and cool him off. Babies hate warm temperatures. Second, if the weather is warm, the baby is prone to dry up faster. Babies got higher water ratio in their bodies than adults and so makes them more prone to dehydration. The first reaction the body has against dehydration is the release of histamine. Histamine wld help conserve water and at the same time cause allergies. So to prevent the histamine release, hydrate ur baby well with lots of water and not any fluids like juices, tea, sodas, etc. Milk is not a beverage but a liquified food. So do not count milk taken as equivalent to water. The daily water requirement of ur baby is half of his weight. If ur baby is abt 16 lbs, he wld require at least 8 ounces of water daily. Make it a habit to give ur baby water one hr before he drinks milk. This will help him digest the milk better and easier. Third, Fruits like oranges and banana are rich in potassium and when given in excess, wld also trigger the release of histamine causing allergies. So avoid them. |
