I am not allergy to cats but I am to dust mites. Can I still get a cat? Thanks? I am allergic to cats, and live with two. While increasing the number of animals in your house will give dust mites more to feed off of, you already have many, undoubtedly living in your house. While you probably already take precautions to prevent this, it is known that your bed's mattress can double in weight over the course of its lifetime due to the buildup of dust mites inside it. (solved of course by sealed mattresses, such as water beds, or pneumatically pressured beds). The problem really depends on the severity of your allergy, your willingness to take a daily medication such as loratadine (Claratin), which can produce drowsiness and some dehydration, and your desire to have a cat. If you have severe allergies, perhaps requiring medication or even emergency steroids such as an eppi-pen, consult an allergist. There are treatments to reverse your bodie's hystamine production in reaction to dust mites and other allergens, such as injections. Lots to consider, but totally your choice. (do you typically have reactions around other peoples' cats, in their homes?) dust mites have NOTHING to do with cats yes if you are not allergic to cat's then get one. Good luck i'm allergic to dust and cats so DO NOT GAT A CAT. Yeh, dust mites are EVERYWHERE Every time you breathe millions go into your mouth, they cover every centimeter of the earth, so you are already covered in them so getting a cat would be fine鈾? Well, getting a cat shouldn't affect whether or not you have dust mites around. Ask your doctor, but I would think it would be okay. Yes, you can still get a cat. Just be sure to keep a vacuum around to keep the shed hair down to a minimum. |
