Taking allergy medication while on allergy shots? |
If I take oral allergy medication(s) (Benadryl) while on allergy shots (I just started last week), will it make the shots less effective? Antihistamines have no effect on your allergy shots. Don't expect results from your shots for at least six months or possibly longer. Timing the start of your allergy shots is important though. It is generally recommended that you start shots for hay fever when your symptoms at minimal which is usually the winter months. However they can be started at any time. I'm not certain about Benedryl, but my allergist put me on Zyrtec while I was getting allergy shots. My understanding is that they work in completely different ways. Nah, it'll help bc the shots dont prevent your allergies from happening right away...those take a few months to kick in. I get allergy shots |
