Holistic allergy care?

I have a cat allergy and the doctor prescribed me zyrtec and clarinex to try. Both of them make me feel funny with lightheadedness. Ive heard that there are some holistic things you could try. Has anyone ever tried this method and if so, what do you use?

Traditional homeopathy made my allergies less severe. I also have had acupuncture during an allergy attack and all my symptoms disappeared. However, nothing has been more effective than avoidance and modifying my home with removal of carpets, allergen-proof bedding, HEPA air filters, etc.

There have been very good results with homeopathic allergy medicine,you can get it from your health food store,pick the one labeled for cat and pet dander allergies.It is a big help!
Daily nasal irrigation with a neti pot also helps cleanse the sinuses of cat dander and other irritants and reduces nasal symptoms as well! Also i highly reccomend you avoid cows milk dairy products which create more mucus and worsen allergy symptoms.

I do not know about specific pet allergies, but I have been taking a product called MISTICA since January and for the first time in 3 years I have had no sinus or allergy problems. I would get severe problems twice a year and have to take strong antibiotics which I hated. I do not like to take any precription drugs.

Honey, we have SIX beautiful, spoiled and energetic indoor cat children. I at one time had problems with so many cats...my sinuses would go haywire but I took are of my allergies like this:

I eat an entirely vegan diet. This means NO animal or animal-based products to eat or to use. 99.9% of my food is fresh and I cook only about 1/3 of what I eat. Anything we buy at the local farmer's market I wash thoroughly with dish soap and a vinegar water rinse...we have an organic garden where we grow the rest of our vegetables.

The only starches I eat are made of rice and oat flours...so the bread I occassionally eat is baked of oat flour, etc. I eat a lot of soy products and pure legumes...peanuts, beans, etc. I eat about 15 servings a day of fruits and 10 of vegetables.

I drink about 64 ounces a day of pure green tea or pure water. I take a vegan multivitamin and a vegan stress formula. I sleep at least 8-9 hours a night and I avoid overt stress by having my own home consulting business.

Our cats also eat holistically. Okay, they HAVE to eat meat as they are obligate carnivores but the food they get includes carrots and leafy, green vegetables and many natural vitamins. Kitties who eat excellent food produce a lot less of the really high-allergen dandruff that causes humans so many problems.

I innoculated myself against their dandruff (the primary cause of cat fur allergies) by slowly (every night a little bit longer) allowing one of them to share a pillow with me. The first week a cat would sleep on my pillow for 2 hours, the next week 4 hours, the next week 6 hours, etc. I also innoculated myself against environmental allergies here in Texas by being outside mowing the lawn at least twice a week. So now I'm no longer allergic to the kitties NOR the many, many allergens here in Texas...especially molds.

This is just my holistic plan. It really re-vamped my entire health...hope it helps, honey. Let me know what happens!

Go to a whole foods store type or order on the internet a nettie pot. It has been used in India for hundreds of years. It works like nothing I've used before. After I had sinus surgery last year for polyps, my doctor told me to get one of these and use it daily. It is the best thing ever. I haven't had to use allergy meds since then.
