Indeed.

1) keep the litter box clean. scoop it daily and wash it and completely change the litter at least once weekly.

2) vacuum everything! carpet, furniture, rugs, beds, cat beds, etc.

3) get one of the filter inserts for your ventilation system that you clean instead of replacing. then clean it every month.

4) get anti-dander wipes for your cats and wipe them at least every other day.

5) get your bf to use a neti pot to rinse his sinuses. he will have a lot less problems with allergies and will probably feel much better, at your house and everywhere. you can find them at most health food stores. i have one and LOOOOVE it! i use it at least twice a day.

6) definitely send bf to an allergist. i'm not such a fan of the pills, but the shots work wonders. they're expensive, but so effective and will help for years after he stops taking them.

7) experiment! there are lots of alternative therapies for allergies, one or more might work out well for him.

good luck! I know i would never want to give up my kitty, even for my bf, and he's a keeper.
He should try consolting a doctor because that doctor might recommend some kind of medication for him. Because that's how my ex was. He was allergic to dog hairs but he loves them so he takes couple pills daily to avoid rashes from dog hair.
benadril if he is around the cat's for a little while he can take this before he comes around them.If he lives with you then the only thing he can do is get shot's and that dont always help if he's really bad.If you all live together then you really should get rid of them or keep them outside.
Allergies to cats are usually do to the dander on the fur,so bathing the cat once a week will cut down on the allergen significantly.
Invest in a high quality hepa filtered vacuum cleaner and vacuum the carpets and couches daily.

Consider restricting the cats to one area of the house only and keep air purifiers in every room to cut down on the fur exposure.

A pollen mask such as an I can breathe mask can also give relief.

Over the counter anti-histamines such as benadryl or as an alternative approach without side effects and drowsiness try a homeopathic allergy formula for cat and pet dander (available at health food stores.)

My mother-in-law got an airpruifire and I use to not beable to walk into her house without my eyes itching and watering and having trouble breathing because of her cats. but now that she has one of those I can enjoy going over there without having to take allergie meds and being really sleepy the time i am there! Please try one of this i think you can get the cheap I paid $200 for mine but you dont have to get one that much. I know how your BF feels and it is not fun :(
He can get allergy shots. My step-dad was allergic to cats, dogs, etc. He took shots and now he's pet allergy free. We have 3 dogs and a cat.
