Is there a really good dogfood for dalmatians with allergies? She doesn't care much for lamb or fish.? |
The best so far is SolidGold Holistique and I add salmon, but she still isn't real fond of it.I also give her bee pollen, vitamen E and fish oil capsules. Well, don't know if you will take this advice or not, but here goes... Honestly, you should switch to a raw prey model style diet. It will clear up all your dogs problems with allergies. Even Oprah's vet said it is what dogs should be eating. You won't have to keep supplementing with all the bee pollen, vit e, etc... Keep the Fish Oil Caps as long as they aren't Cod Liver Oil... If they are for the Omega 3's that is fine, but choose the Salmon Oil caps (or the salmon oil you can buy and add via bottle or pump)... www.rawmeatybones.com www.rawfed.com/myths www.rawlearning.com I took our foster off of kibble and pre-made raw and switched her to prey model and her demodectic mange I'd been fighting to clear up for 8 months went away in 3-4 weeks. It was amazing. If you absolutely won't do a raw prey model diet, then I recommend getting your dog onto a grain free food. Nature's Variety and Evo both make Grain Free foods (kibble or wet/canned) and I know there are several others. google: dog + food + grain free Good luck We used Eukanuba with a very allergic Kairn Terrier. he was allergic to many, many things. It helped so much. PetSmart and a vet office... I have a golden with allergies and put him on California Natural which is designed for allergic dogs. They have a chicken version and a lamb version - my dog is actually allergic to lamb so we do the chicken. It is human-grade and has the fewest ingredients of any dog food which means fewer potential allergens. All ingredients are also sourced within the U.S. It is made by Natura, which also makes Innova. Very high quality food. I'd skip the supplements - dogs can have allergies to those too. I also have my dog on a biweekly bathing program to reduce the environmental allergens in his coat. This program has helped him immensely - he is rarely itchy anymore. If that doesn't work, I'd look for a veterinary dermatologist. They aren't easy to find but call the university with a veterinary teaching hospital closest to you and see if they can recommend someone. I use James Wellbeloved - turkey or lamb and rice - but I think it's only available in the UK. Do you get Clinivet? I think they do a mix for allergies. |
