Allergies causing swollen vocal cords?

It started 3 weeks ago when I over did my singing. I thought that ws the reason my vocal cords were sore and swollen for the past 3 weeks. Some days its worse then others. Then yesterday, I discovered it was my allergies after I fell asleep on the floor for an hour. When I woke up my vocal folds felt acutly inflamed. I am so allergic to dust and mites that they couldn't measure it. When I go to sleep I can SMELL the dust mites. I take singing lessons and for the past 3 weeks I only practiced succesfully for 2 days because of my allergies. My doctor gave put me on 5 mg of Zyrtec a couple months ago. Zyrtec takes care of everything EXCEPT for my throat. What can I do to stop this symptom? I know one thing is to throw away matress and use a hypoallergenicpillow case.

You might want to talk to your doctor about putting you on an antibiotic and an inhaler. My doctor last year gave me an antibiotic to clear away the inflamation and infection. And put me on one of those asthma steroid inhalers to help stregthen my vocal cords.
