When I eat most fruits and vegetables, my throat starts burning really bad, is this an allergy?

I love eating watermelon, but I can't anymore because my mouth burns so bad!! I've tried washing them really good, but the only thing that really helps is cooked vegetables, is this an allergy?

Yes! This is called OAS, oral allergy syndrome. Please read about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/oral_allerg... Please be aware that this "burning in throat" may suddenly become life-threatening anaphylaxis if you continue to eat foods you are allergic to. See the article for some of those foods--I will bet you they match some of the foods bothering you! Source(s): I am in healthcare education.
if there is latex in watermelon then you could be allergic to latex. i cant eat kiwi alot becuz there is latex in em..
It could be an allergy to specific kinds of fruits. Sometimes more acidic fruits can cause a burning feeling and then cause canker sores so that's another thing to watch out for. The main thing is just test out what fruit causes it and try to limit the amount you intake of that specific fruit.
You should consult an ENT (Ear, nose and throat) specialist to resolve your problem.
well u could be allergic to the fruit and vegtables that u eat and beaware of what u eat in that source
Yes, it is called oral allergy syndrome. It is usually linked to pollen allergies. I used to be so allergic to watermelon that just getting the juice on my hands would make them break out in a rash. I also had severe pollen allergies. After going to an allergist and being on desensitation shots for five years, my allergy to raw fruits and vegetables went away.
