Cat allergy - can you get a shot to stop being allergic to cats? There are indeed shots that you can get to lessen the symptoms at least. An allergist should be able to help you with that. There are things that can help now, if they aren't being done already: 1)Dust the house frequently, preferably with an anti-static spray so the loose cat fur won't stick. Endust for Electronics is one example. 2)Wipe down the baseboards and molding often. 3)Vacuum frequently. 4)If the cat gets up on the bed, wash the bedding often. You might even want to invest in some form of air cleaner to pull allergens- such as cat dander- out of the air. Good luck! Try Benadry Allergy/Sinus - over the counter. Blessed Be -Obsidian The NHS won't give you a shot, in case one day you have anaphylactic shock (an allergic reaction that can be life-threatening, the sort that makes nut-allergic people's throats swell up so they can no longer breathe) - and they need to give you one then. I used to live in Spain and got an injection every Spring that kept hayfever at bay. Not here. So: Boots 1 a day non-drowsy antihistamine tables AND Flixonase Allergy spray up the nostrils. My partner has a bad animal allergy and the Boots pills helped. You can't get one shot to stop being allergic to cats. Desensitation shots take over a hundred shots. They do work, but it would take two years or more before you are not allergic. Hi,I bought some tablets from my local chemist the other day for my hayfever ,they are called "Piriton Allergy Tablets.I have noticed it says on the front of the box they are for pet allergies too.I find them very good for my hay fever.Hope this helps. |
