Pug Allergies?

My two year old Pug is really scratching alot its been so damp this summer is Oklahoma that I think the extra moisture is causing her more irritation than normal is there any kind of medicine I can buy to ease her suffering before she scratches her sores into infection.

Pugs are prone to skin irritations and such. I would bathe her in an oatmeal shampoo, once every couple of weeks if she is dirty. Between baths, use a sensitive skin baby wipe to wipe down her fur. Make sure you brush her daily, to bring any allergens to the top.

You may also want to try switching her food. A lot of skin conditions actually clear up after the dog has been on a good allergy/food sensitive food for a couple of months. The switch needs to be gradual...25% new food mixed with 75% old food, until you lower the old food amount to nothing and feed all new food.

I suggest putting her on Fish and Chips or Lamb Millet and Rice, both are wheat/chicken free from http://www.frrco.com/121668 These foods do not contain the ingredients that trigger such food sensitivities the most.

Make sure to keep her nails trimmed...and file them so sharp edged nails won't break open her skin. This can lead to secondary (bacterial) infections, and be very uncomfortable for your dog.

I would try these things before going the expensive allergy shot or meds path, as simple things sometimes cure the problem.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your pug...I know that has to be miserable for her! Source(s): http://www.libertydogtraining.com...
Take her to the vet for proper medication
you can use benedryl...it will make her a little sleepy though...if she gets hot spots make sure you clean then up well and keep them trimmed and DRY.....also make sure she does not have fleas... if its dry skin you can add a teaspoon of olive oil to her food....smile
