Could I have a slight allergy to dairy products?

I enjoy my dairy, but most of the time I don't get more than a glass of milk per day.
If I exceed a small amount, and have per say... a glass of milk, yogurt and a grilled cheese sandwich, I get really sick feeling in my stomach.
Could I have a slight allergy to dairy? =(

Lactose intolerance and being allergic to dairy are two completely different things. You should get checked for both conditions. I am allergic to diary and I have pretty much the same symptoms that you're describing. I can eat about one serving with out feeling sick but after that I end up a little miserable. If you're lactose intolerant you can take a pill and still eat dairy. If you're allergic you have to avoid it as much as possible.
You may be slightly lactose intolerant, the only real way to tell though is by seeing your doctor
well, try drinking soy milk and eating soy products and see how that makes your stomach feel. Or you should go to an allergist and get a test done to see if you are allergic, just to know for sure.

good luck!
you could be what is called lactose intolerant.
that simply means your tummy does not like the calcium, proteins, or other products in the dairy selection.
there are dairy product designed for people faced with this problem. they are labeled on the package that they are for people that are lactose intolerant.
i suggest trying a few of these products to see if they make a difference.
if they do not ease your discomfort, consult your doctor for more options.

The same thing happens to me too! I'm not sure why - but I used to be (as a baby) completely allergic to all types of milk. Even soy milk! Perhaps there's a common ingredient in dairy products that is also found in soy milk. Maybe we share the same uncommon allergy, who knows?
I'm going through the same thing right now, and here's what has happened to me.

I had the same thing, I had gotten the norovirus, and it was there for 1 week! What happened after that is that I knew that the enzymes in my stomach had been depleted that let me digest lactose. But, like most parents, my parents didn't believe me, so I had to be evasive. For one entire week, I had gone with dairy products, meaning I ate, and drank them, and I would keep like a small chart seeing what has happened. The time that I was having milk I had lots of adverse effects, stomache ache, diarreha, low grade fevers, and migraines were all on the week.

This week I started having milks with Soy in them, and also products with the Lactase enzymes. So far all I've had is more bathroom trips, but other than that it's fine.

QOUTE: "Lactose intolerance (or hypolactasia) is the term for the normal decline in the level of lactase, an enzyme needed for proper metabolization of lactose (a sugar that is a constituent of milk and other dairy products), in human beings after weaning.

Lactose intolerance is normal in all adult mammals, including human beings. However, a few ethnic groups鈥攑articularly certain European groups鈥攃ontinue to produce lactase throughout their lives, and in these populations lactose intolerance is usually treated as a medical disorder."

QUOTE:"With lactose intolerance, the result of consuming too much lactose is excess gas production, stomach aches and often diarrhea. Most adults can drink about 250 mL (8 oz) '(about a cup)' of milk per day without severe symptoms (McGee 2004; Swagerty et al, 2002).[1]

In human beings, significant production of lactase ends sometime between the ages of two and five. However, a relatively recent genetic change has caused some populations, including many northern Europeans, to continue producing lactase into adulthood. Lactose intolerance is an autosomal recessive trait, while lactase persistence is the dominant allele. The gene is expressed and the enzyme synthesized if at least one of the two genes are able to express properly. Only when both gene expressions are affected is lactase enzyme synthesis reduced, which in turn reduces lactose digestion.[2] In areas where much of the adult population is lactose-tolerant, this may be reflected in the local diet by an increased presence of dairy products in foods and beverages."

But there is a difference between Milk Allergy, and Lactose Intolerance. Milk Allergy does this: QUOTE:"Milk allergy is a food allergy, an adverse immune reaction to a food protein that is normally harmless to the non-allergic individual. Lactose intolerance is a non-allergic food hypersensitivity: it is due to the deficiency of the enzyme lactase, which is required to digest the predominant sugar in milk."
It's hard to tell the difference, but if you go to the doctor's hospital, you can do 3 types of tests to see if you have either Lactose Intolerance, or Milk Allergy.
