Puppy allergies?

I just recently changed my pups food b/c she wasn't eating. I changed from Eukanuba puppy to Natural Choice Nutro. But I have noticed her eyes are tearing more, she is scratching a lot and sneezing. I do believe she has outside allergies but could she have an allergy to the food? I know this is a good high quality food but could this be the problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Food allergies rarely cause sneezing, but teary eyes, itching, licking paws and red underbellies, and red cobble-stone looking skin of the ear canal are common signs of a food allergy. Sneezing and other respiratory symptoms are more commonly associated with inhalant or contact allergens, however it is not uncommon for dogs to have BOTH food allergies and environmental allergies.

Were it my dog, I would first talk to your vet about antihistamine therapy to see if they will help. Often with environmental allergies, antihistamines can work wonders, but they do little for food allergies. If something like Benadryl or Claritin do not help, you'll know you need to start using process of elimination to discover what food ingredient she's allergic to.

There is also the much quicker but more expensive (in the short run anyway) blood allergy panel, with which you can have at your finger tips a detailed list of everything she's allergic to, and to what extent.

In any case, I would definitely coordinate with your vet, they can offer the best guidance.
Not good! Change your dog food to a different brand and see if your dog still doing all those things. You said that her eyes are tearing more. That tells me that she has allergies already before you switched foods. On the package it states the following :

If you knew the ingredients in commercial dog food you wouldn鈥檛 feed it to a dog, let alone your best friend.
Your dog could be allergied to this dog food. Yes, dogs can be allergied to the dog food.

Yes, she could have food allergies... or the ingredients could cause a sensitivity to the environment.

Think of sensitivity of being like contact lenses. You may not have allergies, but if you wear contacts, then pollen might get caught in the contact and irritate your eye. Food sensitivities can do the same general type of things to dogs.

You might try changing to a cheap Lamb and rice brand for a couple of weeks to see what happens. Or the best bet is to change back to Eukanuba for two weeks and see what happens.

Also, this may not be a problem when the dog matures....
Hmm, maybe you should take your dog to a veterinarian. Your dog might have a disease or something and might need some medicine. Also, the vet will give you a lot of advice about your dog's problem. They will probably tell you waht to feed it if she has food allergies, or mabe something to give her fro outside allergies.
Guesses lol
Yes, dogs can have allergies. They can also be picky eaters. It could just be a coinsedence that your dog is eating the new food and having allergy symptoms.

If you think the food is the culprit, which I doubt but it's possible, then change it again.

I would see the vet though and get a check up and discuss your concerns. Like humans, there are allergy meds but never, and I mean never, give your animal human meds.
