How many years a man can survive with Alzheimer's disease?

How many years a man can survive with Alzheimer's disease?

Once Alzheimer's has been diagnosed, the average life expectancy of patients living with the disease is approximately 7 years, while less than 3% of the patients live more than 14 years.

Some people last years with no outward signs of the disease, the amount of social interaction in their lives makes a huge difference, the worst treatment is to be stuck in a corner and ignored. those who are included in everyday life with a family and a fairly steady ruetine do well.

It all depends. There are medications out there, like Aricept, that slow down the process some. There is also the theory that working hard to keep the mind stimulated may also help. While every person is different, from what I remember reading the average life span is 5 years. That is just an avergae, though. Like I said, it can vary. Also, with new research new treatments can be found.

A female relative lasted 20 yrs. not recognizing family members.

I don't remember

Alzheimer's does not kill you and you can live with it for decades. There is a saying about it: 'you die with Alzheimer's not because of it.'
