How does someone WITH Alzheimer's cope with the disease?

How does someone WITH Alzheimer's cope with the disease?

Having watched my grandfather and then later my father cope with it, I'd say not very well. It starts off with some cute forgetfulness, then slowly progresses as they literally slip away. Early on I it may be helpful to carry a note pad on which to list daily activities, directions, names etc. ,but, later on it won't help. In the end I don't think either my grandfather or my father even knew his own name. Its a sad thing, and very frustrating to family members as the person grows more and more childlike. I assume that perhaps someone you know has alzheimer's, if so, I am sorry. I am sure that there are a number of books available dealing with the subject, and also many support groups, good luck.
