Hi Rebecca,

there are a couple of sites which will help you. I would explain it all myself but it would be so long. These sites are good because they explain in sections.

wikipedia.org/wiki/Alzheimers..
www.alzheimers.org.uk/factsheet/401

What you need to cover is the way it presents itself at the onset, the diagnosis, the treatment, the prognosis,, and definitely mention the effect it has on the family. Remember by the time someone gets to have this problem (although it can occur in younger people) their children are probably married with children of their own. Daughters have an especially hard time because most girls by the time a parent is suffering from Alzheimer's they are going through their menopause, have got teenage children who are probably causing worry and concern, plus they have to balance keeping their husband or partner happy while coping with a parent or in some cases both parents who are dangerous to be left alone. Then come the worry of finances when it is obvious that they can't live alone any more. Then comes the guilt that they are putting their parents in a home. then comes the hurt when the parent stops recognising them.

I do hope this helps you.

Love mel.X

It would probably be a good idea to start with:

the signs/symptoms:
http://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_10...

some facts and figures:

the stages of alzheimers:

treatments:

I'm not sure what is required for your paper.. but those things are probably important!
