How long has your friend or relative lived with Alzheimer's Disease?

My mother lived with it for at least seven years. She would have lived longer, but she fell and hit her head and broke her hip and died three weeks later. It is a terrible disease and it takes away your personality and your memories and who you are.

my granny lived w/it for at least 12 years, she passed away at 89
My mother in law went 7 years from diagnosis to death, with hindsight we believe she had Alzheimers long before the original diagnosis.

A friend's mother went over 20 years from diagnosis to death.

It can vary from patient to patient.
My father was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's 4 years ago when he was 63 but I am sure he had it for many years before that. I think he started showing symptoms when he was around 55; but they didn't get bad enough for anyone to become concerned until he was in his early 60's.
He just turned 67. He doesn't know who I am, or who my mother is. He doesn't know his name most days. He can hardly dress himself or read. His aphasia is so bad he often can't understand speech nor speak in a coherent way.
