What are the chances of getting alzheimer's disease when your grandmother had it?

unfortunately pretty good
Alzheimer's is heredity. My great-grandmother had it...then my grandmother...so yes it is. maybe not in every case...but the chances are higher when someone else in your family has had it. hope that helps!

You don't have to throw in the towel so soon, though.

Keep your mind active. Learn as much as you can. Your life should be a constant place of learning. Play games that make you think, learn languages, anything to keep your mind active.

The chances of you getting Alzheimer's will be greatly reduced.
Family is prone to Alzheimers, Dimensia and other mind-related illnesses. Some members have stayed very healthy mentally via keeping their minds active all of their lives.
Heredity is very complex. Remain socially involved, join a club (any sort) or a church, read, do puzzles, drink black tea, eat a varied diet, take exercise, keep a pet.

Don't smoke, avaoid excessive alcohol consumption, don't do drugs.
