Is 200mg Spironolactone as effective as 50mg Androcur as an anti-androgen in women?

*23 yr old married female.
*diangosed with female hypersexuality and other androgenic symptoms (acne mainly)
*currently seeing a counsellor and psychiatrist
*bipolar disorder.
which option is the best?

I would say Androcur as it is basically more effective and least probable for side effects....just consult a doctor for more information^_^

Seek a consultant doctor or practitioner general doctor for the best in case I am wrong^_^

Avoid spironolactone (I'll have to read up on the other drug) it is linked with breast cancer.

Acne is a common side effect of oral contraceptives but at the age of 23 it still is not uncommon to have acne without it being OC caused.

There is alot of corruption in the mental health system, they expand the defintions of mental illness into normal behaviour so doctors can have an excuse to precribe medications.

I would suggest you seeing another counselor for a second opinion but the dynamics are that the market has a zillion psychologists, and they all like the 90 dollar an hour lifestyle they get paid for, many have contracts secured by the same mega corporation.

There are bipolar people in our population but not near as many as are getting the diagnosis. Its marketing, I am talking averages here, not about you as an individual.

Check the spelling of the other drug, it is not listed at the drugs@fda website, unless its a drug out of the USA (or your in a clinical drug trial, they will diagnosis whatever for whatever drug they are being paid to evaluate).
