Anxiety disorder medications? |
I'm going to the doc tomorrow for what I am certain to be an anxiety disorder. I don't want t pill that makes me stoned and gives me a limp wiener. Any recommendations on meds to ask the doctor about? I am on anti anxiety meds also. The first thing you have to do is tell the Dr your symptoms and let HIM decide. You have no idea of what different meds there are or what is best for your situation. He will want to find out more about you to see the strength and type of meds. I myself am on Buspar. It's very mild and is not narcotic so there is no chance of becoming addicted. Some of these meds can get you addicted and are terrible to withdraw from. I was on xanax and my Dr took me off and it was horrible until I got fully withdrawn from them. Remember he's the professional that went to medical school so let him decide what is the best match for you. Also seeing a counselor is a big help than just self medicating . Good Luck as far as I know...antianxiety meds don't "make you stoned or give you a limp wiener"...To begin with they will make you drowsy...but after a few weeks on them that will go away. I switch between xanax and Klonopin for 8 years since my 3 year old son died of a horrible accident. They say anti-depressants help with anxiety as well. I have tried every brand and found that Zoloft is the best with least side effects. Just remember you will have withdrawls from stopping any psychiatric medication. Your doctor will tell you to ween yourself off my taking half of your daily dose for two weeks, then half of that for two more weeks...then you won't get the withdrawls. stay away from Effexor if you can. it's like Klonapin light... I'm on Ativan and it works great. But it is very addictive, so they may not give it to you if you request it. Xanax is a good anti anxiety pill. i am on lorazepam (ativan) it does work but its addictingg i have been on Lexapro for over a yr and it has worked great with no side effects!! Xanax ftw! |
