Does anybody else have social anxiety disorder? |
i do and its ruining my life i can't take meds because theyre are none that work for me it just makes it worse i have fear of rejection aner managment issues public speaking ETC My great aunt had to go to an insane asylum for problems like mine i don't want to go Me too. I am stuck home most of the times because of it =[ I very much do. I find however, that when I am forced into social situations and get through it that I feel much better about it. I get a little more confidence. But then again, if the situation goes poorly for me, then my world is over and I dwell on it over and over in my mind. I seem to do better in some situations versus others. Also, I've learned that if you ACT confident and like you're not shy, nervous, self-conscious etcetera that works real well. You just have to trick yourself into thinking you're great at it and others won't be able to tell. This is because you are living in a society of secularism... A lot of people suffer from that- you can take meds for it. Just talk to your doctor and make sure you find out about possible side effects, to make sure that it is worth it. Its something that a lot people have into their 20s and sometimes you outgrow it. There are a ton of books out there that are may be able to help you.-You can even check out the library- they are self- help types that might be worth a try. Good luck i have it as well i went to the doctor about it but all he wants to do is put me on a pill i have to take every day of my life...im not one for pills...now when i go out or feel like im getting an attack i just take deep breaths and say to myself that there is no reason to have an attack and if it gets really bad i just go outside and breath and talk myself into believing that i can be calm. So far it has worked, i work in a bar now and have to deal with situations like that all the time. yes...it really sucks..and it does impact my life. I took some meds before and I didnt like the way it made me feel. It took the anxiety away but I didnt feel anything!!! It was wierd it was like I didnt care about anything general anxiety disorder is what i have so social anxiety would come into it yeah. and i know how bad it is sometimes. sometimes the meds dont help as much as you'd like them to. CBT therapy is good maybe give that a try, it can help u understand the anxiety and precent it from happening I do and I am now a bitter 17 year old living by myself in my own house, making 3000 dollars a month (Its a translator's job) with an anger management issue. yeah I cant work in the outside world because if someone gets mad a me I cry and dwell on it forever! Homemaker is the way to go! I drink allot for my social anxiety disorder because my doctor dosent understand how bad it can be!!! I do, but I've learned to get over it. I did at one point in my life.......I overcame it. It will ruin your life but its a disorder that is manageable and can be overcome. Meds helped to get me out of it initially. nope, I'm just extremely introverted (as my psychiatrist said) I thought i did once. Turns out i was just introverted. Just try not to let it get to you, its not so bad out there. you should speak to your doctor and therapist to get it resolved No, I love to socialise but I do sympathise with you guys I talk too much and don't think about that I'm saying - I don't get hints Sorry... I don't. Half the time ppl dont know what im talking about but i dont care. Good luck though, serriously. I do and I hate it. Yes it sucks I think i do. yes. just take some meds. yeah, i might have it...i agree with you... yeah yep. oh how i dread it !!
