I have Depression, Anxiety, & Borderline Personality Disorder. I get upset & lose ALL motivation.?


I get upset or the weather changes and my arthritis acts up so I hurt really bad and I just turn 鈥淣umb鈥?and I go from 鈥淚 have to do all of this work today鈥?to, literally, being unable to force myself to do anything鈥?I don鈥檛 even realize that I will sit down for 鈥渏ust a second鈥?and end up staring off into space鈥?I鈥檒l finally 鈥榗ome out of it鈥?after like, half an hour and realize that I just lost MORE time that I SHOULD have been working, cleaning, whatever鈥?br>
I鈥檓 on medication for the Depression and Anxiety (Wellbutrin XL and Effexor XR) but they don鈥檛 seem to be working as well as they used to鈥?I can鈥檛 change my med鈥檚 because I don鈥檛 have health insurance and these were the only drugs the doctor wanted to use that I could get for free鈥?br>
Does anyone have any advice on how to 鈥淪nap Out鈥?of my apathy? It is killing me!

maybe time for a change of med i was on welbuterin and i was just the opposite i was in rages of madness.i get in these funks have pain but the only way to beat it is to force yourself and i find that i do what really needs to be done set limits is what i do .i used to clean 24/7 obsseive behavior but i was taught in a class it is ok to do nothing to and not feel guiltyand if you dont have ins health dept or mental health will get you what you need have to make an appointment but i am in the same boat have bpd bipolar asthma copd emphyzema and pills for every thing is killing us.were late on rent because i needed pills for asthma attack ,my husband works but no over time.also a good book to read is battle feild of the mind it really helped me .make a list of things that must be done today,and one for during the week all through the week cross of and you will see the benefits god luck hang in there

I agree counseling is a good option. However, maybe you need to quit "shoulding" on yourself. The more you think "I SHOULD" do this or that, the less you're going to want to. Let yourself take a break now and then. Accept the break, then if you actually get something accomplished after that, give yourself many pats on the back. Motivation is a problem for a lot of depressed people. I think the secret is just being proud of what you actually do, and not putting yourself down for what you don't do.

Have you tryed counselling aswell as medication? Often both can be effective together :)
If they are really not working for you then speak to your doctor because there is no point in him prescribing something that doesnt help! Good Luck :)

have you tryed doing counselling along with the medication you are on... i found my counseller that is free at a local church and she is free she is a social worker maybe that could help you along with i do cognitive behavior therapy

maybe you could go to a church and tell them your situation and they could give you or know someone that can counsell you.

and see how that goes and maybe go back to the doctor and tell him that the meds arn't working but you can't afford others there might be something he can do.
