Does my brother have social anxiety disorder?

So my 21 year old brother has nothing going for him. He's been in his own little world for many years now. Maybe before hight school but it seems to be getting worse. He doesn't have his license, he sits in his bedroom all day long. He doesn't talk to anyone (I have 6 siblings and he's the baby) When you ask him something, he'll answer with 1 word and when you do ask him something sarcastically, he'll say "Do you have a problem".... makes me feel uncomfortable and everyone uncomfortable because he's soo recluse. Noone knows what to do with him because he won't even talk to anyone. He doesn't smile, he is on the heavy side. He doesn't see the sun sometimes. We don't want to raise him forever. What should I do? Do you know anyone like this?

Classic signs of depression. You may want to start interacting with him more forcefully and make your presence known to him and that he's not alone. Especially if he's overweight (I just recently had the gastric bypass so I understand his problem) he may feel that he has nothing going on literally and may be thinking of ending his life. Just stay alert and on top of things, ask him questions, get into his life a little more don't just wonder about it.

He sounds like he wants to be left alone more than he is afraid to be around people. Probably depression.

He sounds kinda like me. Just don't patronize him or be condescending. Talk to him about it. Simple as.
