Yes, many people have social anxieties. Since you're young you can start working on it immediately. First of all, realize you lack confidence. If this anxiety is as bad as it sounds, then stick to the medication. But you can start working on making yourself a more 'interested' person and the way you do that is to develop an interest in other people and their interests. There are books to help you do that.
2nd - work on making yourself more interesting and you do that by broadening your interests thru reading and talking to other people about their interests. 3rd- relax and enjoy your youth. You shouldn't be anxious about life because your next several years are laid out for you. 4th - bring trusted adults into your life who will take an interest in you and your concerns. Finally, don't lose faith in yourself to pull yourself thru this. Lots of kids have this problem and it can be a long pull, but stick with it and just try to let yourself be interested and interesting. Focus on doing and not on whether you are good enough. You are and concentrate on believing that. Love to you.

There's MANY people who have social anxiety, just take a look in the "mental Health" category and you'll see.I had social anxiety too when i was younger. It was so severe that i would sometime feel like passing out.I had nearly all the symptoms you had.

I also saw a counselor just like you did.You had only 2 boyfriend??...Big deal,i never had a girlfriend and im 17,that's worse.I also didn't have many friends and had a weak confidence.

Your not alone, hang in there and you'll be fine.

Good luck

My husband has social anxiety disorder. It was difficult for him to be around my family for many years because of it. He would rather sit at home alone than go to the family gatherings with me. He's finally on meds for it and for panic attacks that he gets whenever he has to climb a ladder (which is a daily part of his job).

Rest assured that you are most definitely NOT alone. There are many many people out there dealing with exactly the same thing as you. I hope you can get on the meds. It has made a world of difference for my husband. The good thing is you know what it is. My husband dealt with it for 35 yrs before he was diagnosed and got meds. There's hope. Just hang in there.

uh 2 boyfriends is alot for a 14 year old.
i felt just like you for years and years.
medication and counceling, or talking about it too much didnt help. its part of life. it is simply the feeling of being alive. try calling it something else like 'stimualtion'. you are feeling stimulated. join a club at school and make some friends that do fun things. stay away from drugs and alchohol.
it will just make you feel worse. you are waking up into your adult hood. your mind has not caught up with your body.
get into a sport like running or something at school.
you will burn off alot of the energy and calm down. diet, excercise and real friends will help you so much. only hang out with girls that are kind and happy.
you do not need a boyfriend for a long time.
boys your age, and for that matter 10 years older are interested in one thing. and you know what that is. sex.
girls need sex but they need a lot more from a guy and you have to wait til they grow up for them to take responsibility in a relationship. the women is the child bearer and should always be taken care of and treated like royalty.

yes i have it and it is the worst feeling in the world. i am off of my medicine which i have been on for 5 years (xanax) then klonopin for a year and a half. i just started as a waitress to. it is terrifying. i don't know what to tell you. get a counselor...a good one. don't let them put you on medicine for at least six months. it will mess your life up and you will think you can't go without it. besides that i don't know what to tell you but i am sorry. i am really working on it right now. good luck...

It hasn't been diagnosed by a professional, but I'm pretty sure I do. You're not the only one though, so don't worry about it. Don't feel like a loser, just try to make the best out of it. It may be hard making friends, but if they shy away from you because of that, they aren't the type of friends you'd want to begin with. Hold your head high and try your best. No one is perfect. We're all human, we deal with things differently.

Have you tried herbs? I suffer from the same thing, and I buy the Kava cool complex they sale it at wild oats.
