I think that I have social anxiety disorder, what should I do?

I think that I have social anxiety disorder, what should I do?

Well, if you go to your doctor he/she can proscribe you an antidepressant for you to try. You can also set up an appointment with a therapist if you think it is affecting your life bad enough.

Try to work on your stress with stress and breathing techniques you can search for on google. Take deep breaths though your nose, hold for a couple seconds and than exhale out your mouth when you are anxious. This sometimes helps me. Maybe you can make a list of what events you know will bother you and come up with solutions to what you can do to calm yourself.

I suffer from Social Phobia as well the thing I suggest not doing is staying home and trying to avoid going places beacuse I've done this and it has made it even worse. You can try going out with family or friends if you want to go somewhere that way you aren't alone.

.

When you feel like you do not want to go out, do the opposite and go out. When you feel too nervous or shy to be with people, be with people. Do the opposite of avoiding regardless of your anxiety. When you feel like you have nothing to say, look people in the eye or at their face, SMILE and say: "Hi, how ya doing?" Force your self. Social anxiety is something you can reduce but you have to start taking some chances, like going to parties, saying "hi" in the elevator, etcWith the help of medication, psychotherapy and your own courage, you can overcome these problems.

At the moment I would guess that your depression results from your social anxiety and once you get that resolved you may not need medication.

Be courageous, meet people.
