Social anxiety disorder! help.. and advice please..? |
im 16.. and i need help for social anxiety disorder. i need help.. about should i go see a psychiatrist.. take meds.. or use the linden method.. .. does medications really help? im really having trouble.. and i dont know if im old enough to go visit the psychiatry without my parents though us EFT it's free and easy to learn and is great for any kind of anxiety. http://www.anxiety-depression-alternativ... If you are experiencing social anxiety, you should contact a psychologist/psychiatrist to get an exact diagnosis. The choice of treatment depends on what form of social anxiety, you are experiencing. Some forms are best treated medically, some psychologically, and often a combination of medication and psychotherapy will be chosen as treatment. I do not live in USA, so I am unfamiliar with the rules there for contacting a psychologist or psychiatrist without parental consent. Your parents can never decide that they should be present in the room, while you talk with the therapist, though; they can only participate with your consent. If your condition requires professional treatment you are probably going to have to get your parents to pay for it; so they鈥檒l find out eventually... Can you talk with your parents about your anxiety? Perhaps they're already sensing that something about you has changed, and are eager to help you..? If you do not want to involve your parents right away, you could try to find free counselling in your area - try to find someone, who has specific training in dealing with young people with feelings of anxiety. It's very painful to deal with anxiety, but try to seek help; the anxiety can be treated, and the sooner, you start treatment, the easier it will be for you to overcome the isolation and negative thoughts. Best of luck. I am a licensed psychologist Make an appointment with your family doctor and talk with them about how you are feeling. I am taking lorazepam and it has helped a lot and my normal doctor perscribed it to me. That would be the first step, then you and your doctor can decide what to do after trying the meds and things. Hope you feel better soon! I have the same problem You need your parents help.Yes...you can take meds to help and Yes they work. First of all tell your parents. They need to know if somethings going on. Then go see a doctor. You'll probably end up taking meds and seeing a psychologist(or psychiatrist- I'm not sure what the difference is).Good luck. |
