Have slight anxiety disorder and now VERY Depressed... need help/advice How do i snap out of it?

I am over critical of my self lately. Think I have gained too much weight and hate all my cloths, I have become alot more dependant on and clingy with my boyfriend, I just got an apartment and it doesn't seem to make me happy at all, I want to sleep all day, I will be ok one second then sad as hell the next, Anything sad comes on the tv or radio I ball my eyes out, Hell I ball my eyes out driving by my self radio off even, my boyfriend went away for 6 days and it is day 3 and the thought of him gone makes me cry, I pretty much dislike everything right now.

Yet I have a well paying full time job, I also wait tables on sat, just got my apartment (nice and not too expensive), am getting good grades in my 2 classes this semester, and Have a wonderful man in my life who loves me and I am completely inlove with.

I know I am over worked due to woeking 50 hrs and school 3 nights per week.

I know I have slowly but surely falling into a depression but dont know what to do.

go see a psychiatrist and a therapist (psychologist), they will advise you best. aside from lessening your load you might need medication.

good luck! you're going to be ok. This is beyond plain depression/anxiety. Don't self diagnose or let anyone else diagnose you. Please seek professional help. I did and it has made all the difference.
Do you have any meds? You sound like you need to visit the dr.
There's two routes to go:

To rule out mental illness such as major depression first do the following things to see if you get better~

1. Get plenty of sleep. 8-9 hours is ideal. Don't skimp on sleep during the week and then make it up on the weekends. Sleep is very important.
2. Get 30 minutes of excersize a day. Excersize will improve your metabolism and boost chemicals in your brain that will make you feel better, plus if you lose weight you will feel better about yourself.
3. Eat fish 3 times a week. The omega-3 fatty acids are very good for your overall health. If you can't stomach that much fish, take over-the-counter fish oil in the vitamin aisle.
4. Get at least 30 minutes of natural sunlight a day. The sun's rays are converted to Vitamin D in your body and boosts chemicals in your brain that make you feel good.
5. Eat healty foods like fruits and vegetables. Lot's of breads and carbohydrates will make you feel sluggish.

After doing all these things if you still feel anxious and depressed then see a mental healt professional. Don't get psych meds from your family doctor- seek a specialist in mental disorders such as a psychiatrist. This is 2007 and there are so many good psych medications out there that it is rediculous to not take them if you need them. It may take up to 10 weeks to feel a difference so be patient. One kind of med. might work for one person and not another so you might have to try different meds to see which one works best for you. Being that it takes so long to feel better it is a long process and you may get discouraged but don't give up.

Don't dump on your boyfriend. Vent to a therapist instead. It is very hard for men especially to understand what's going on and they can't help you so it just makes your boyfriend feel powerless. Try to be positive around your bf. Turn those negative thoughts around and try to see the positive sides of your negative thoughts. For instance, "I'm so tired I don't feel like talking to anybody" can be turned around to "but the good news is I have supportive friends who will be there when I'm ready to talk."

Good luck!
Been there, done that!
Well, it sounds like you aren't unhappy (relatively speaking), so I would look at biological causes...hormones, but more than likely you have just stressed yourself too much without putting something back. My therapist once described it so perfectly as this: YOu are like a bank, you give and give of yourself (making a withdraw), but if you don't put money in the bank you can't get any out. Same principle...you need to put back into yourself if you want to get something out of it. If you are working 50 hours and going to school and in a relationship you are definately stressing yourself. Put something back in...Pick something that you love to do and do it...make time. Take a bubble bath, watch a favorite show, do something that you probably don't let yourself do because you have other responsibilities. Keep telling yourself all the positives in your life. Smile even when you don't feel like it, especially when you don't feel like it. And to reencourage intimacy, maybe you could plan an evening to go out and do something different than your normal routine, before you go out think about all the love you feel for this man and how wonderful he is and what he means to you, give yourself permission to be emotional, and just concentrate on that feeling. Don't set up expectations for the evening, just be prepared to let yourself go in the moment. Sometimes we just have to make ourselves get in the mind set to be able to relax, be intimate, feel good, etc... I have done this stuff myself and it worked for me. I know everyone is different, but I do know you need to take care of yourself before you get to the point where you can no longer see the postives in your life. Just keep on pushin on. And if you really feel like you can't pull yourself out of it through reducing your stress etc... then see a doctor. You can get antidepressants. You don't have to be on them forever; however you do need to take most kinds for at least a month before you get a major change in mood. I took some for fibromyalgia pain actually, but after I stopped the medicine I realized I had a change in my mood for the better. I only took them for a few months. If it is situational and not biological it could help; if you have a hormonal problem, that should be addressed with medication or diet changes, etc... Sorry my thoughts are all over the place. Just remember your second paragraph...that's a lot to be happy about. Good Luck and know that we all feel like this at some point in our lives and you'll get through it. Heck you sound like a strong woman...you have to be to work and go to school, get a place, and have a good relationship! Feel free to e-mail me if you ever need to talk to someone nonjudgemental who will just listen or give advice if you want. : ) Catherine deadsqirrl@yahoo.com

Just wanted to add that I agree with ICU also...exercise is proven to increase your mood positively. It releases endorphins and makes you feel good even just a brisk walk.

Sweetheart, you don't need drugs or a therapist. You need to get your hormones check. I bet you didn't know that having a hormonal imbalance can cause depression, anxiety, IBS, Insomnia, Constipation, adrenal fatigue, painful periods, acne, loss of desire, vaginal dryness, irregular periods etc. My advice is to go to a doctor, let him give u a hormone test. If you have a hormonal imbalance, you may wanna treat it with drugs, but drugs is not the answer. The best approach is to go natural. I treated my hormonal imbalance the natural way with Maca Root.
