Has anyone ever beaten an anxiety disorder?

I have been battling one for about 5 months now. I am dizzy and extremely tense in my shoulders, neck, and back. My thoughts aren't exactly right either. I am in therapy and on a light dose of medication(wellbutrin). Has anyone ever beat it. Mine has not been life long- it developed after I became sick 10 months ago with and undiagnosed illness. I am 28, female. Please only serious answers!

I am not sure you ever beat it...you learn to control it and live with it....but I know it is possible to live a good and productive life. I find that exercise helps me deal with it the best...and if I have panic attacks ( you might have them too), I now know what they are, and I just breath deeply and realize that they will pass. I was on medication and it really helped at the time, but I realize that for myself it was better to be off the pills than on them. ( everyone is different though so don't stop just because someone tells you to. Always work with your doctor and remember that you are not alone in the matter, as millions suffers from these problems. Good Luck.
Well being another female with anxiety, I have had it for a long time. Like years. I was put on Paxil ...only made me more nuts. Then I was put on effexor and after that lexapro. I don't really believe it can be beaten. More managed then beaten. I stopped taking my prescriptions and went to something herbal. Something that deals with the same things as the prescription. The norepinephrine and serotonin. I take Sam-E and B 150 and have no side effects from that at all.

Other things to try are relaxation techniques. Deep breathing, things to that nature. I'm going on about 8 years of having anxiety. Just have to find what works for you because everyone is different. I never had therapy, I hate those people, no offense some people really need them.

Hope that helps in some way.
I know this sounds strange, but I recently discovered yoga and it's amazing. The big concept is to remain calm and continue to breathe even when your body is under stress. If you can do it physically, it works mentally as well.

but medication works too :)
