Please help...could this be an anxiety disorder? |
For the past 5 months, I have gone back into my non-social period. Often times I feel phyiscally and emotionally unable to go about my everyday activities. I constantly worry about the safety and well-being of my family and at times during the night, I check on them to make sure they're still breathing. I also constantly worry about my appearance and whether my hair is perfect or my eyebrows are perfect. Physically there are days when I feel horrible. Sometimes my heart races and I feel light-headed and I have pains in my body. There have been times when i didnt leave my dorm room for days and missed classes. Also, whenever i leave to go out somewhere, i usually turn around and go back seconds after walking out the door because im afraid that i forgot something. I usually do this twice each time before i leave somewhere. There are a few things I have noticed over the past months and it seems like I have lost control of my life. I really dont know what to do from here. This does sound like an anxiety disorder. I think you are having panic attacks, abnormal periods of isolation, and the repetitive going back to check on things is a symptom of OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). You might not believe it right now, but there is help for you. There are medications that can help turn your life around. Start with your family doctor. Tell him everything...don't leave anything out. He will know just what to prescribe. Pick up the phone and make that appointment quickly. You cannot continue to live like this, and it will probably get worse if something isn' done. God bless you. Source(s): Been there. You really do need to see a doctor.Phobias anxiety and stress can cause this. And college trying to keep it all going can be overbearing.have it checked.Dont waste your life away. Libby tell you parents and get yourself to the Dr before it escalates so much that you might be hospitalized Seek help. Seriously, if you can not talk to your parents talk to a guidance counselor or advisor. It does sound like anxiety however you will need to speak to someone to be diagnosed. Your school should have a student health center. I would start there. This does sound like anxiety to me. When something like what you describe takes a toll on your personal life, education, profession, etc., it's important to seek help. Talk to a counselor or a doctor about what you are experiencing, and let your parents know as well. |
