Does anyone have an anxiety disorder where they latch onto thier greatest fear and cant let it go?

I feel for you!I suffer from panic attacks, and I also have other problems(I would rather not discuss at this time). And I do think Alot of it stems from my greatest fear(s)!Which is a few traumatic experiences I have endured. But no one understands me,or even tries too.At least that is how I feel. But yes I do think it is very possible to latch on to your greatest fear(s)and not let go!I would suggest counseling, dear. That may help. But it certainly is not a cure all.But it really does help to talk about things, sometimes. However,I am the type of person that keeps my feelings bottled up for way too long(yrs)!I even avoided talking about my issues, all together for the longest time.I also avoided any people, places,or things, that even remotely reminded me about what had happened to me in the past. That was my way of dealing with what happened to me.I refused to talk about it at all!I just pretended(still do,most of the time)like everything was OK,and that I was OK.When actually I was dying on the inside. It really helps to have a good support system! For ex:Your Family, friends, etc. If you do not have anyone at all, like me!Then I would say seek a professional.Sometimes you can have a spouse,or a family member, and still not be able to really talk to them,or confide in them! That is the kind of situation I am in.It is really sad,but I feel more comfortable chatting about things on the Internet or in chat rooms.Than I do with my own spouse or with mother. And by the way that is the extent of my dysfunctional family. And believe me we do put the'fun'in dysfunctional, too lol!But feeling alone has to be one of the worst feelings in the world.Besides pain and sadness, which I also have chronically...So try to find someone that you can to talk to about your fears, and build yourself a good support system! It is problaby the most important thing you can do to try and face your fears,so to speak. And if you do not have a significant other or any family members, then perhaps seek a professional.Or if you have been there and have done that then you always have us here,on the net! Please know that! And know that you are not alone! There have been so many times that I have gotten online to try and find someone to talk to(Thanks to Mr.Bill Gates)!Otherwise,I problaby would have taken my own life or done something really stupid!Because I have felt so alone, like I had noone to talk to,or because I didn't want to talk to my spouse or my mother about my problems,or just because I felt like I was going craZy!I was afraid,I still am afraid and fear leads to anXiety! And that anXiety leads to Panic, and panic attacks, etc! And all of that combined really sucks! So,Together though we can chat about it.Thats if you want too!If you would like to chat further about this, please feel free to Im me or e-mail me,thanks.I so hope that you feel better soon.Although it may seem like you never will.Well,I sure hope I didn't read too much into your own personal situation!Sometimes I do that.If I have,I am truly sorry, but you didn't specifically say what your greatest fear was either?I mean it could be something really simple like clowns??lol. However,I really do know how it feels to suffer from a anxiety disorder and/or panic attack, and it can be really scairy! And fear and panic are extreme emotions,to have to deal with on a daily basis? Is it daily that you feel, the way you do?I was also wondering if you have tried any medications and/or counseling?Well-anyhow,take care&Good-Luck to you! what you are describing sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder, which is causing anxiety and maybe panic attacks? You obsess about something until the point where you cause your body to send a false alarm of danger, and then you have an attack. Millions of Americans suffer from this..you are not alone, that's for sure. Try meditation, yoga, relaxtion techniques. Learn how to talk yourself through your moments of anxiety, remember noone has ever died from a panic attack. Maybe you should try talking with a psychologist, to get some perspective? There are plenty of books on the subject, you could check those out too. There are medications you can take to help with the symptoms....but I would use them as a last resort. Try limiting caffeine too...that can make you edgy.
loubean hit the nail on the head! She told you exactly what my doctor told me! Take care!
