Anyone suffer from social anxiety disorder?

i can be put on the spot around people i have known for years and still get nervous, my voice get trimbly and everything. it has gotten so bad that i can be in a crowded room and have to pee but wont walk across the room because of fear of people looking at me or wondering what they might be saying about me. ive never looked a person in the eyes for more than few seconds and when i have to do speeches i almost lose my breath. anyone else have these problems

I'm so sorry to hear about the level of anxiety you have to deal with in social situations - it certainly can't be an easy thing to deal with. You might find it helpful to read an old, but good, book called "I'm Ok, Your Ok" by Dr. Thomas Harris. And another helpful book is "Don't Panic" by R. Reid Wilson. The more you learn about your anxiety, the better you'll be able to deal with it. Also check out this article about introverts and see of you fit some of the characteristics (if nothing else, it will make you smile).

Finally, don't hesitate to seek medical attention if your anxiety gets very serious. Take care of yourself and I wish you well!
yeah, it used to be worse than it is now. could be the paxil helped or it could be i have just grown up.
good luck, i know it really sucks
yes ido i get so nevoues and my face gets a red
I had a similar problem about 5 years ago until I started taking Wellbutrin, Zoloft and Abilify. I wasn't even able to drive, but now I'm completely normal.....)(
Yes, I display most of the symptoms you explained, it really sucks.
I am the complete opposite. I think that people who feel like you do have a fear to make a mistake. You have to understand that everybody makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect. If I am at a restaurant and spill a glass of wine, for example, I just laugh and try to clean it up. Nothing cam make me self conscious. But I taught myself to be like that at the age of thirteen or fourteen.
*rases hand* yuppers, i do. I LOVE to perform and i have an excellent voice, but when i get infront of a VERY big group (like over 1000) my voice gets shakey and i want to faint. it took me a while to get used to being on stage. and alot of times i have the same problem when i'm somewhere. I will sit where there is no one around so no one will look at me and i dont go to the bathroom in public places because of the same reason. And half the time i keep my mouth shut worring about what someone will say back or if i will look stupid. one time i was just standing in the hallway at school in the corner with all my friends, then all of a sudden, i snapped. I felt like i was gonna pass out, i had a panic attack, and i started to run around and scream. course i was having a miscarrage, my fiance was cheating on me, and i was on the verge of graduating/NOTgraduating high school. and other stuff was going on too. but i've just flipped out sometimes just from fear of being around too many people that might talk about me. it's weird.
