HELP! I have social anxiety disorder and I need help.? |
I am taking paxil, but I can't tell if it's right for me...I cannot afford therapy, so I am really trying on my own. if anyone has any advice for me, please help!! Thanks well have you notice any differences since you started taking paxil? heres a website:www.seacoastonline.com... Many communities offer free counseling/ therapy for residents. I would call my local village hall and ask. Also, many Universities offer it free, or very low cost..and the service is provided by upper lever counseling graduate students. if you are low income you can find a therapist. also there are therapists that will work with your price. once a month is better than drugs. drugs don't help! You are on the right medication for it. Paxil takes a good 30 days before you can really tell if its doing the job. If you have treid it for over a month tell your doctor, because there are more meds for you to try. I know two people who WERE on Paxil and both gained a ton of weight before they quit it. I don't know what would be better for you, but if you work out every day I know the endorphins will kick in and keep you from getting totally depressed. are you on 10 mg of Paxil? If so..you may need a higher dosage..tell ur doc that the present mg. is not working...there is a med called Lorazepam..(generic name-ATIVAN) that is excellent for anxiety...tell your doc Paxil is not working and you want to try Ativan...good luck You are on the best medication for your condition. I also have SAD and the Paxil was the answer. It does take a while to get into your system. If you are low income, you can usually find a therapist at your local mental health facility that can accommodate you. |
