Possible anxiety disorder/OCD? informed opinions only please :)

okay, this is a little awkward for me to discuss cos i havent told anyone these things before and really difficult to explain so im sorry if its confusing. ever since i was about 11 ive been trying to control my breathing, for example, if i here or see something bad (such as someone getting hurt or dying) i feel like i have to breathe away from them otherwise i might inhale their situation or i dont know, just 'bad things' in general, i KNOW this is crazy and doesnt make sense but i feel like i have to do it otherwise something 'bad' might happen. its progressed to the stage where i cant look at someone and breathe, i have to look away when i want to take a breath. this is constant and is on my mind all day, both consciously and subconsciously. sometimes i also feel compelled to touch things 2 or more times until a 'pleasant' though comes int my mind. this doesnt hapen all the time, i try and hide it. i also have a number of other things which i do repeatedly but itll take too long to explain.

i know if i want a proper answer i should see a professional. im not looking for that here. im just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar to this and what did they do about it? i dont know whether this may be a mild mental disorder or not....?

thankyou for your time :) oh, and please, no nasty comments. take them elsewhere.

It does sound like OCD - the severity of the OCD can be determined by how much these activities interfere with your daily life. If these compulsions have taken over your life or if you feel unable to function properly due to these rituals a professional will be able to help you overcome this disorder. It sounds like OCD .Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Especially the touching things a certain amount of times until you feel is right. That definitely sounds like mild OCD. Please see a doctor, he will refer you to a phys. ... He will be able to give you the help you may need. Good luck.

It sounds to me like you have OCD. The severity of OCD is determined by how much this effects your day-to-day life. It sounds like it is hard for you, because this is taking over your mind all day and you feel like you have to do it. OCD can be very stressful and can also become worse with time.

I think you should talk to your parents or a trusted adult, who could maybe take you to a doctor and discuss what you have said here. There are ways in which your doctor can help you and they can diagnose you properly if you do suffer OCD. The best thing for you right now would be to see a doctor, to make sure that's what it is and to decide what to do next.

Best of luck.

I was the same untill i tought my self to not go back and touch these things. Like a real big one for me was to go back to the fridge and see if the milk top was on right or it would spill everywere on the next person i'd get myself so worked up and went to check it everytime. Then i just told myself NO and carried on walking forward. About the breathing just breathe, Try so hard push yourself just breathe and things should work out. I Think you do have OCD. You could talk to someone (family?). Don't feel ashamed or embarresed because If its enough to make you act this way its something that can be defeated. I'm right here with you. Now i've moved on to EXTRA WORRYING God help me. But i'm bringing positive thinking with it :) Always feel happy. Or do something that will make YOU feel happy. Good look I know you can get through this. x
