Is it important to have a panic/anxiety disorder diagnosed? |
I've got almost all the symptoms of an attack, so I'm pretty sure I have it. But should I still get it diagnosed? Yes. Its essential. I suffered from panic attacks daily and did not know what to do. When it was finally diagnosed my life became much more manageable. Panic attacks totally disrupted my life for over a decade. I had to take medication but I was OK with that. It gave me my life back. I was at the point where I would not go to places like parties, long rides etc. I would make up excuse after excuse. You can beat this but you are going to need some help. Don't go it alone. Panic attacks are much more prevalent then people think. I am convinced at least in my case that it is hereditary. I found out my grandmother had what they think was a panic disorder. They did not know too much about panic disorders back then and she was labeled a hypochondriac. Poor woman hardly ever left her house. My Aunt suffered from them and this past summer my 19 year old son started having them. He is lucky, he lives with a professional on panic attacks. One thing I want you to remember. I had thousands of panic attacks and NOTHING ever happened. NOTHING, I cannot stress that enough. All that worrying and wasted energy and years of my life ,,,,wasted. I did that to myself and so will you only if you let it. I have not had one for a very long time. Get off that merry go round now. Its a waste of valuable time and energy. I guarantee you will beat this. As I stated , nothing ever happens. If you ever need me I do not mind if you contact me. I hate to see anyone live like this when they really do not have to. I would be more then glad to help you. God Bless (NOTHING EVER HAPPENS) There are 2 programs out there that are famous for treating Panic Attacks and Anxiety successfully. This is going to sound weird for a therapist to say you don't need to get diagnosed, but I'm not really sure it is that important. If you know that you are panicking and having anxiety, you don't necessarily need a professional to tell you what you already know, unless it is extremely severe in which case there may be a need for medication to get it under control. If you are concerned that there could be something else wrong such as a medical condition, that is a different story and you should definitely be seen. The thing is, anxiety is very treatable if you can figure out a way to work with it. Sometimes just talking to a family member or friend, or learning some coping techniques can go a long way in reducing your overall level. If you are interested, I provide professional online counseling and work with issues like these every day. I would be happy to discuss this situation with you. Feel free to send me an email or check out the link on my profile if you are interested. Good luck to you either way. you need to be diagnosed by a specialist. there are medicines that can treat the problem if you really have it and can live a normal life. the sooner you seek professional help the sooner you will feel better and can move own with your life. Yep, you shouldn't self-diagnose, only a medical professional can diagnose. yes you should get it checked. It is very important to do so. |
