Should I tell people that I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

I'm fourteen and a half and the truth is I don't know whether I should tell people that I have GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). See, I am constantly afraid of everything, I can barely sleep, I get headaches, muscle pains and a whole other list of painful symptms. My mother refuses to believe that there is a problem, as per usual, and my dad is the only one who actually cares.

But should I tell people so that they understand not to push me, but can I risk them using it against me? I don't know. If I start trembling in class then no one will understand and then it'll be really arkward. There have been a few times where this nearly happened, but I managed to make it not obvious.

But who thinks that I should risk being bullied beyond control, and who thinks that I need to tell people the truth so that if I have an anxiety attack where I can't stop shaking then my teachers know what's going on?

GAD is VERY common and not something that you should be afraidof. what you tell people about your mental "status" is your bbusinessnot tther'res... I have been living with bipolar for 4 years now and not everyone in my fam knows and most of my "friends" have no clue lol your priorities should be set on getting your GAD under control so that it doesn't run your life! I hope that helped!?

It's important for teachers to know, but you do NOT want to tell this to everyone! Even friends might let it slip. You know how cruel kids are. This is your personal information and they don't need to know it.
You need to work on the techniques and strategies that a doctor our counselor has given you, and if it gets really bad there are a lot of medications on the market to treat anxiety.

I have it, too. I am an adult, bit it began with me at 15 or so.
There are many ways to deal with it.
I am sure you have read about all of them.

Your parents should talk to your school counselor/pychologist, and inform them.
You should go to your family Dr.

It's a shame your mother isn't supportive.

The saying goes" If you are not a part of the solution, then you are part of the problem".

'nuff said.
