Serious Social Anxiety Disorder?

So I have OCD and it's been interfering with my life. Then I found out that I might have Social Anxiety.

An Example:
Today, I went out and took the subway. I was supposed to go to some place I had never been so I wasn't sure where to get off. I was too nervous to get out of my seat and check the map to see if I was at my stop so obviously I missed my stop. I got off so that I could go backwards to get to my missed stop. I was lost of course and I was panicking that people might think I was lost or was a tourist and didn't want to look like some loser. So I went outside from the subway station pretending it was my stop. I ended up getting even more lost and eventualy took a cab back home because I was so upset.
This is just one instance of many.

- I am so afraid of what people may think of me. I worry constantly if I look normal, I am afraid that I well get embaressed in public so I avoid public transportation. I avoid looking in people's eyes, I am so self conscious that I can't even go eat by myself outside.
- I don't ever feel like going outside because I feel like I will mess up.

Does anyone have any tips as to what exact disorder this is? What I can do to stop it, and if anyone has experienced something similar to this, what actions they took to stop it.

THIS is VERY important to me so please no immature answers and short ones that are one or two sentences.

there might be a some sort of anxiety disorder, but it is all in your head. People only see and act the way you feel about yourself. Maybe you are just too shy and from the experience you told, i bet that you dont even ask questions at school, get lost all the time, dont know whats going on all the time, and have a hard time in relationships, am i wrong? if you keep this up you will never get nowhere. Let them think what they want, i mean was missing your stop, wasting precious time and getting lost all worth it so that people WHO YOU DONT EVEN KNOW AND DONT KNOW YOU wont think that you were a loser? i know how you feel because i am the same way with people i know. Sometimes when i am at a place and i know people from school i feel like you feel, but you just need to relax, keep telling your mind that you are cool and there is nothing wrong. You just need to know how to act kool, and even if you need to get up to get a map, do it with attitude, with your head up high, look at the people around you (give them the stare so that you could intimidate them), take your time, and they will think you are cool. If you dont know them them screw them, who gives a **** what they think.
ps. most people who ride the bus are old, old asians, adults, drug addicts and crazy people. i dont think you are one of them so once again, WHO GIVES A **** WHAT THEY THINK.. i really hope this helped and i just didnt waste my time typing all of this up.

I have ocd too. I have the same issues. ocd scared my life but don't worry you should go to a doctor they would know whats wrong but i think you have OCD. I really cant help you in any other way ocd is different for everyone. But 1 question do you get sick a lot?
I hope this helps.

How about....a doctor? I think that's what they are for. My ex gf suffered from the same thing. Don't remember the exact diagnosis but they gave her meds and every day exercises to work through it.

Wow I am almost the sameway.
Got some stories like that.
I feel you.

First, you need to realize that people aren't judging you or watching you as closely as you think. Easier said than done to think that way, right? Just think about it. If you're worrying this much about what others are thinking, realize that other people are probably thinking about themselves as well. The people that do judge aren't worth your time anyway. Another thing that will help is gaining confidence. Also easier said than done. The more secure about who you are and how you look, the more willing you'll be to try things. Right now you're le

It sounds like SAD.

I know this may be the last thing you'd ever want to do, but you should think about group therapy (cognitive-behavioral therapy).

There's more information at the sources, and what you can do for treatment.

There's also drugs you can take, but I usually don't encourage that since people tend to abuse them or become dependent. Recovery is harder without medication, but its more thorough. You gain confidence, courage, and understanding of your state; something drugs can't do.

omg dude, i know exactly what you mean.

i've looked it up, it is social anxiety disorder aka your super super shy.

i got a self help book called something like, 10 ways to stop shyness or something like that... it's good and it gives you little exercises to practice. I honestly think a therapist is perfect because you can talk about what's bothering you, and they won't judge you, they just want to help you and they can help give you tips to fix it.

i care way too much what people think of me, and have a very low self esteem, but i tell myself that 'it doesn't matter what they think' over and over again. I take time to do deep breathes and calm myself down, because if you think about it, it's silly to get so worked up over asking someone a question or getting lost. I also tell myself that i'm not the only one that gets lost, other people get lost all the time, it's just a fact of life.

one thing i have a problem with is talking to people i don't really know and actually caring on a conversation with them. open ended questions! think of questions that can't be answered with a yes or no, so that the conversation will continue to flow. i.e.:

BAD: Did you like dinner?
GOOD: What did you like/dislike about dinner?

i feel for you.

omg. blushing is the worst!! haha.

good luck.

im usually really nervous when i have to go see a group of people or do something in front of them, but im getting better-
just think about life like this, everyone that is on earth right now, is gonna be dead one day. your gonna be dead one day. what you do wont even matter when your gone, so why not be yourself while your here and dont even care what people think of you. theres so many crazy people out there, nobody even makes a big deal out of somebody simply getting up to do something, but seriously i used to be the same way. and everyone around you is all outgoing and stuff, it sucks.
but just think of it like you have your time on this earth and you want to make it the most fun it could possible be.
(:
-also, were all just humans, everyones the same. so don't think of yourself any less of anyone.
