My beagle is coughing non stop as if he has asthma, what should i do and what is the problem? Coughing can be a symptom of several things, including heartworm disease, kennel cough, congestive heart failure, upper respiratory infections, and other serious ailments. Please visit your veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment. He may have kennel cough, a disease they get from being exposed to other dogs that may have it or from drinking from or eating from the food or water of an infected dog. The term comes from the fact that dogs in kennels are more highly exposed to it than dogs that live at home and aren't surrounded by other pups. I would take him to the vet, if not treated, it can turn into a serious condition and he could even die if left untreated. Besides the possibility of something be caught in his throat, has he been checked for heartworms? Our dog did that when we first got her. I thought she was going to stop breathing! We took her to the vet right away and found out she had kennel cough. She was much better within a week. It could be that... You should take your dog to the vet to be sure. Ours had the same allergies that others get. Seasonal allergies from pollen in the air. Sneezing and coughing. Does it get better when the weather changes? Dogs are like kids; always giving us something to worry about. please take him to the vet as soon as you can. it can be alergies, a upper respitory infection or even congestive heart failure. This of course can all be treated. Take your dog to the vet ASAP coughing could be linked to alot of things like heart worm, heart problem kennel cough and he should be checked over by a vet now. Good luck you should definetly have it checked out but its probably an uper respitory infection.and these can be deadly so get him to the vet ASAP. You could start by calling your vet. No one here can diagnose your dog - it could be any number of problems. |
