I am 3 weeks pregnant, what can I take for my asthma?

I just found out I'm pregnant, but I can't get into the doctor till August 1st. I stopped all my medicine for my asthma and allergies till I see the doctor. But now I can breathe, my eyes are all itchy, and my nose is draining. I called my primary doctor, and they told me to take pulmocort instead of advair. It just makes me nervous to take anything. Has anyone taken pulmocort when pregnant or anything else?

If your MD says use pulmocort, use it. If you are concerned, try calling a second doctor, or at least a pharmacist. Advair contains a steroid, which may be a concern for your baby, but discontinuing medication completely could potentially cause more harm than good. Make your decision based on information, not emotion, and that means talking to a medical professional (but not me - this isn't my area of expertise!).

Your inhalers are low in dose and act on the lining of your lungs, so don't be afraid to use them: they act locally and will barely appear in your bloodstream let alone affect the (early) pregnancy.
I hope you don't smoke.

I wouldn't take anything while being pregnant!!! Please try natural remedies! You don't want to do harm to your baby or yourself! I don't care if people tell you it's safe, I wouldn't trust it!! Years ago women weren't allow to take ANYTHING, NOTHING AT ALL!! Go to a health food store and get something that's natural to take.

stop eating meat.

ingesting meat has been linked to causing asthma. Avoiding meat will also lower your risk of contracting any type of bacterial infection (something like E. Coli or mad cow disease) and is better for your health overall.

Take the medicine. If you die from an asthma attack that is not good for the baby either.

if you cant see your dr til the first than go to the er and tell them your problem they can possibly give you a breathing treatment

Do not listen to anyone on this board. Talk only to your doctor.

use singulair .

CALL the obgyn's office and ask THEM, not your primary or US!

sorry for not answering ur question. i just wanna say..u lucky thing being pregnant !hehe
