Can alcohol withdrawal cause asthma? |
I have been trying to quit drinking alcohol, but about 7-12 hours after I quit I develop asthmatic symptoms. I have a wheezing sound from lungs and an uncontrollable cough. It has not been so severe that I have needed medical attention but it does wake me up when I am sleeping and it does make me quite nervous. It is to the point that I think about going to the hospital. I have talked to doctors and they say that it is not possible, but this only happens if I quit drinking alcohol for more than a day. Is it possible that there is some kind blood vessel dialation or constriction that is being influenced by the alcohol abuse? No,it's not possible. On the contrary, alcohol can aggravate asthma, breathing can become heavy and shallow if one exceeds personal capacity.Strong emotional expressions including crying or laughing hard or stress can precipitate into asthma like symptoms.Even gastro esophageal reflux (due to hyper acidity)can produce such symptoms.Fight with yourself not to touch alcohol and not to visit such places and friends for a week where you are likely to be offered alcohol. For a couple of days take a tranquilizer at night for a dream free sleep.I am hopeful, your symptoms will disappear. I think it ca because i drink my asthma gets worse |
